Sara Chafak won the  Miss Suomeksi 2012 (Miss Finland 2012) at the Vanajanlinna Castle, Hameenlinna in southern Finland on Sunday evening, 29th January, 2012. She will represent Finland at the Miss Universe 2012. She is currently studying international marketing at the Estonian Business School in the English language.

Sabrina Sarkka iwas crowned as Miss Finland World 2012 and will represent Finland at Miss World 2012 at Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China. Viivi Souminen was crowned the first runner up Miss Finland International 2012 and will represent Finland at Miss International 2012 at Tokyo, Japan.

The event was hosted by Lola Odusoga Wallinkoski, a Nigerian-Finnish model who won the event 15 years ago.

Viewers were able to vote by sms and phone for the third time in the contest’s history.

Viivi Suominen, Miss Finland International 2012

Miss Suomi (English: Miss Finland) is the main annual beauty pageant of Finland that selects the official representative to the Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss international pageant. In 2007-2009, Miss Suomi held a separate pageant called Miss Maailma Suomi to select Finland's representative to Miss World.

Reportedly the first beauty contest was held in Finland in 1919 and the winner was  Peace Aaltonen Singh . The actual Miss Finland, competitions were believed to have begun in 1931. However, the competition was first documented in 1961. This was the 51st annual Miss Finland contest. .

The 1995 World Cup Carmen Mäkinen elected perintöprinsessaksi. In the summer, however, she appeared in controversial nude pictures and lost  the crown. This was the first time, when the crown was taken away.

After returning from the competition Miss Universe 2011 in Brazil, Miss Finland Pia Pakarinen suddenly relinquished the crown. Pia Pakarinen said she had a very tough time during the Miss Universe 2011 at Brazil. She almost did not receive any encouragement and support from the organizers Miss Finland and  that she had to prepare everything herself.  (in photo: Pia Pakarinen cried when disclaiming Miss crown.)
